Some highlights include the fact that there are no deaths associated solely with Kratom. Close to 100 people die everyday from opiates like heroin oxycodone.

The reason Kratom use does not result in overdoses gives it a unique advantage in the field of pain management and alternative medicine. Kratom does not depress the respiratory system, even when taken in large doses. Medications and substances containing opiates depress the respiratory system hindering a person's ability to breathe. Benzodiazepines, which include medications like Xanax, Klonopin, and Valium, are another class of medications that also hinder the respiratory system.

The head of the Food and Drug Administration is warning again about the marketing of kratom and other dietary supplements to treat opioid addiction – calling them “health fraud scams.” “FDA believes strongly people addicted to opioids should have access to safe and effective, approved treatments for addiction.
